Mechanically Cleaned Strainer can be made from perforated plate, wire mesh or can be edge filter. Cleaning may be done by scrapers, combs, brushes, screws or vibrations.
These strainers can be used where backwash strainers have suffered premature clogging. The scraper blades and brushes make direct contact with the screen, ensuring that all particles are removed from its surface, including sticky product.
The blades can also act break up large solids build up so that they can be more easily evacuated.
