Homogeneous Membrane is essentially a homogeneous film or interphase through which a mixture of chemical species is transported via molecular diffusion.
The separation of various components in the mixture is related directly to their transport rates within the interphase, which again are determined by the diffusivities and concentrations of the individual components in the film.
With homogeneous diffusive type membranes, particles or molecules of exactly one size may also be separated when their concentrations differ significantly.
