A shaker dust collector also known as shaker baghouse and shaker fabric filter refers to a dust collector using a shaker cleaning system to remove the collected dust particles from the surface of the filter media by mechanically shaking the filter bags. This can be done manually or by using a motor driving an eccentric which in turn has a rod connected to the filter bags.
The filter bag is generally open at the bottom and closed at the top, being fixed in the tube sheet at the bottom and attached to the shaking mechanism at the top. With this configuration, the dust is collected on the inside of the filter bag. The filter bag normally contains no rings or cages. The flow of dirty gas to the filter bags is stopped during the cleaning process. To achieve a continuous shake-clean baghouse, the unit needs to be subdivided into a number of isolatable compartments, such that one compartment at a time may be taken off-stream for cleaning.
