Fibrous bed scrubber also known as flooded bed scrubber are more often associated with mist removal than with particlate collection. The extension to particlate removal is made by continuously irrigating the beds of fibre with liquid sprays.
Inertia impaction is the main collection mechanism with the scrubbing liquid merely acting to improve the adhesion of the particles to the fibres.
Units are usually designed with a sufficient liquid throughput for the fibre bed to be self draining.
