The Clean-Air-Regulation (CAR) from the Ministry of Environment of Québec enstated new provisions for the protection of the environment. Particularly, more stringent requirements are implemented for particulate emissions to the atmosphere. Indeed, dry scrubbers running in various industries need to be equipped with leak detectors.
These detectors also allow to monitor particulate matter contained in off-gases exiting dust collector units. Several models of these detectors are available on the market.
The diversity of detector models makes it hard to chose the right one for the right process. Moreover, besides having to comply to the CAR, it is also recommended to include these devices in dust collector inspection tours. This will enable management to better plan filter element replacements and avoid unscheduled and costly shutdowns and emissions overshoots.
STS Canada can make a complete evaluation of your leak detector needs. We will ensure all CAR requirement are met and make your operations smoother and more efficient. Also, our technicians and engineer can support you with the installation of these detectors, along with helping you drafting operating and maintenance procedures.
For continuous leak detectors, it is possible to convert the 4-20 mA signal to quantitative particulate emissions values (mg/m3). Calibrating devices and managing this acquired data will enable management to better plan preventive shutdowns (fluorescent powder tests, replacing only torn filter tubes) and complete replacement of filter elements.
Customized installation and calibration of you leak detectors will enable you to improve the monitoring and management of your dust collector equipment, all the while complying to the CRA by-law. All of which contribute to smoother and more efficient operations.
