Continuous Pressure Filter achieves the advantages of pressures filter with continuous discharge of the solids.
The advantages are enclosed operation, higher filtration rate per unit area and possibly lower moisture content cakes, and the possibility of operation with liquids near their boiling point.
The driving force applied by the pressure are higher than in a conventional vacuum filter so continuous pressure filter can be used with slightly finer particles. However, the particles cannot be too fines, otherwise the cake will be too thin to ensure reliable discharge.
The most common continuous pressure filter is similar version vacuum filter such as drum, disc or belt filter but installed in a pressurized vessel.
